Monthly Archives: August 2011
I was inspired by a work colleague today – someone who absolutely loves Christmas and is always super organised and gives us regular updates on the number of days until the big day. I’m hopeless – always running around at the last minute trying to find that special gift for someone and then basically just doing with what I can find! Disgraceful! So…now that I have my creative mojo back…I have decided to make cards and gifts this year. Yep…you read right and now I have to deliver.
This card is the first of many and is inspired by this wonderful woman who has, over the last few years, helped me to find my Christmas spirit again and I am looking forward to sharing my creations with you over the next few months.
Oh…and just so you know…it’s 4 months (that’s 123 days) to Christmas! This means it’s time for a Christmas card class. I’m planning to run one on Sunday 25 September from 2.00pm. The cost will be $30 ($15 deposit to be paid when booking). This will include all supplies and you will make 10 cards. The design above is one sample and I will add more over the next few days. Numbers are limited to eight people but I will run another in October and November. If you are interested, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me on my mobile on 0401173203. If you prefer, I can come to you (minimum 6 people) just let me know your preference when you book.
I have been working hard on some more sneak peeks. Remember…in one of my last entries, I mentioned there was going to be a special surprise in the new catalogue – well take at look at the card below. What can you see? Yep, that’s right…it’s fabric!!! Stampin’ Up! have added beautiful fabric to the range and I have been having a fabulous time using all my new pressies. Now I get to include my love for sewing and fabric in my creations.
The card is inspired by a design by Angeline Yong. I made the heart out of one of the Flirtatious Designer fabrics. The fabric comes in a pack of three and co-ordinates with the new Flirtatious Specialty Designer Paper pack. I used one of the doily papers and this particular one is actually melon mambo (pumpkin pie is also included) but I decided I wanted a simple colour palette so simply turned it over and cut it out in a heart shape. I used the new Lace Ribbon Border punch to punch the border which has been cut in half. I then layered all the pieces together and finished off with hemp twine. I used one of the new stamp sets for the sentiment with Wisteria Wonder ink (also new) and that was about it. I thought I had finished at that point but decided to have a break to get to the Canberra Craft Fair where I discovered the little heart pins. These finished it off perfectly.

The fast & fabulous stamps set retires at the end of August so if you would like this stamp set, contact me to book a workshop today.
Hi there fellow stampers. The card below is my first entry to the weekly Just Add Ink Challenge. This weeks challenge is ripping and distressing and I have to say I found this very difficult. I’m one of those people who like clean lines and perfect finishes so tearing and crumpling was way out of my comfort zone – but I guess that’s what challenges are for! It has certainly expanded my creativity, so much so, I think I’ll add the distressing kit to my wish list! If you want to know more about Just Add Ink – click on the thumbnail to the right and join in the fun.
See you next time.
Boy, have I been a busy beaver today! I received my new light cube today to help me with my photos and I have to say – best thing ever! I’ve updated all my pics and they are looking much better. I’m still trying to work out my camera…disgraceful really…I’ve had it for almost four years now. Anyway…here are todays creations.
The first is a CASE from the current Stampin’ Up! catalogue (page 100) using the Baroque Motifs stamp set. This is a beautiful stamp set and I really enjoyed making the flower embellishment. I had to adapt things a little because I don’t have all of the supplies but it seemed to work.
The second is something I put together. I am pretty happy with how it turned out in the end but I had a few issues along the way with this one – it just didn’t come together as easily as it should have. The butterfly is an unplanned addition which was necessary because I dropped the card on my early espresso ink pad just after I stuck on the tag.
See you again tomorrow. As promised I will share some sneak peeks from the new catalogue and I’m also going to have a go at my first ‘Just add Ink’ challenge.
